I'm glad you are here.
Chain Cult is an ethical brand for handmade chainmail jewelry and accessories in which I design and produce all pieces.
I believe that ethical fashion and ethical consumerism is possible and necessary, that's why I work as sustainably as possible and use environmentally friendly and cruelty free materials. All my chains are built to last, so if you ever need them to get repair or readjusted don't hesitate to contact me.
I enjoy reworking and upcycliclyng clothes and accessories as well, giving them a second chance and keeping them in circulation instead of throwing them in the garbage and buying new ones. You’ll find a lot reworked items on this website, but remember that they are unique pieces! So you must be fast if you wanto to catch them.
As a happy goth, music has always been a big part of my life, that’s why my designs are named after post-punk songs. The first bunch are from Siouxsie and Banshees in memory of my dear brother Wolfgang Krug who introduced me to the band when I was a kid and who inspired me to create this brand, although he never got to see it.
I hope you enjoy my designs as much as I enjoy making them!
Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions, suggestions or if you'd like to collaborate together.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
WHO AM I
My name is María Luján and I'm a graphic designer and paper artist from Madrid (Spain) based in Berlin since 2010.
Born in a family of cartoonist and animators, I grew up between drawings and pencil shavings in the drawing school that my parents improvised in our living room, and spent most of my adolescence at my stepfather’s painting studio.
I studied graphic design, traditional animation, 3D and illustration and had lots of shitty jobs during that time.
After my studies, I worked as a graphic designer for private clients, agencies and companies such as Audi, O2, or DGT, and as a graphic design teacher, work that I combined with my personal paper art projects.
Soon (or not that soon) I realized about the importance of business and working ethics and decided to turn my carrer around founding an artistic space which included art classes, exhibition space, screen printing, coworking and artistic events, creating a community of creative people to share knowledge, experience and find inspiration.
In 2020, after the close down of the company due to COVID-19 crisis, I decided to take a new path and created the brand Chain Cult based on my personal values.
